An update from Helene- our skin care nurse specialist
I have specialized in skin care for the past few years and have noticed a pattern with my clients. Everyone wants me to “fix” their face and make them look younger, which is no surprise! Isn’t that what we all want? If only it were that simple. One of the things that I’ve found that clients don’t understand or realize is that their face ends at the bottom of their decolletage (the chest).
What do I mean by that you ask?
Women typically begin to show obvious signs of aging on their chest and hands but so often overlook treating these areas like they do with their faces. Take a minute to look in the mirror, look closely at your decolletage, does it match the age of the skin on your face? Probably not.
Dont worry, it’s never too late to play catch up! Using a combination of medical skin care, lasers and peels, I have perfected a medical treatment for these overlooked but important areas .
First and foremost, starting today, go buy sunblock with high levels of zinc and apply it to your decolletage EVERY DAY to prevent future damage. This is a must!
Typically, if you have brown spots, I would treat them with a medical grade concentration of hydroquinone (doctors office only). If the brown spots are very dark and large, this would indicate that the damage is deep in the dermis and may need laser treatments to alleviate the discoloration.
If your decolletage is constantly red, this is a sign of broken capillaries, which may also require laser treatments to target these areas and destroy them.
Next, I would assess the overall appearance of the skin and usually recommend a series of chemical peels, followed with retinol, in order to even out the texture of the skin.
Last but not least, for all you” side-sleepers”, I would recommend our new decolletage pillow to help prevent those deep, unattractive lines.
